Copy letter from Mrs Cornelius Leahy, Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, recipient unknown, 14 March 1941, regarding the case of her husband Cornelius Leahy, an IRA internee at the Curragh. The letter states that he has received parole. 'You will remember that I requested you to grant parole to my husband who was an IRA internee at the Curragh, and it was granted to him from 7 February till the 5 April, 1941'. Mrs Leahy requests an extension to his parole. 'If he was forced to return now, I will have to abandon some of my tillage and thereby suffer great loss for the coming winter'. She also refers to her mother-in-law's ill health. 'If her son has to go back to internment I am sure that her condition will become dangerous'.

Copy letter from Mrs Agnes Boyd, Newry, County Down, to Mr de Valera, 28 April 1941, regarding the imprisonment of her daughter and grand-daughter. The letter outlines their cases. 'My youngest child Margaret Frances O'Hagan went last Thursday to see her daughter in Dublin hospital. Next morning Friday, she was lifted from her bed early and brought to Mountjoy Jail ... her eldest child Carmel was taken from jail with a poisoned arm and sent to hospital, the very look of her eyes tells she is not doing well since operated on'. She requests a private interview with the Taoiseach. 'It is hard I'm told to get a private interview with you. I should like one ... I am asking you for the release of her mother please - there are not many years between them'.

Hand-written letter from Mrs Agnes Boyd, Dundalk, County Louth, to Eamon de Valera, 3 May 1941, requesting the release of her daughter from prison. 'I know your honest upright nature will have her released, in an honourable upright manner. She has been dragged from her bed, her home and children in the early morning without any charge being made against her'. She also refers to her grand-daughter who took ill in prison. 'Her child sent to the hospital from prison underwent a most serious operation in the Richmond Hospital yesterday, from whatever she contracted in prison'.

Note from the Department of the Taoiseach, 6 May 1941, regarding the imprisonment of Mrs Patricia O'Hagan and her daughter, Miss Carmel O'Hagan. The note states that Mrs O'Hagan is an active IRA member. 'I was informed by the Private Secretary to the Minister for Justice that Mrs P O'Hagan is regarded by the Garda authorities as the guiding spirit of the IRA in Dundalk and as the organiser of every act of violence committed by that body'. It also states that Miss O'Hagan is to be released.

Hand-written letter from Mrs Sarah Doyle, Milltown, County Dublin, to Eamon de Valera, 4 June 1941, requesting the release of her son from Arbour Hill Barracks. She outlines her current circumstances. 'Excepting the Pension I receive from the Government granted me on account of my husband Patrick Doyle, killed during 1916 Rising, his son was my sole support. I need his support more so now, since in August last my daughter died and left five children who have come to reside with me and I have undertaken to rear them. I also had a son killed in the 1922 trouble, he being a member of the National Army'.
