She outlines the details of her daughter's arrest in detail. 'I want Mr de Valera to know this, so he may know the truth and not be deceived. Evidently Mrs O'Hagan was watched going to Dublin twice in the one week and knowing the reason, they judged her wrong and gave the order for jail. It was Eamon Donnelly who lives here in Newry who told me to write to you'. |

'So I must put off my visit to Dublin, Thursday next. Someday, please God I shall have the pleasure of meeting you. I think you know my daughter Mary Boyd, now Mrs Morrow'. She also refers to her other daughter, Mrs O'Hagan, a prisoner in Mountjoy Jail. 'I can only leave it to God and His Blessed Mother for my child Mrs O'Hagan to be soon back to her children where she is very much needed'. |

She describes her daughter's arrest and gives details of the family's financial status. 'It is just ten months, a long time to keep that poor little mother in jail from her children and dragged from her home before nine in the morning by your big men and taken away in a motor car without proof or trial'. She also refers to the unconditional release of other prisoners. 'He can in his own way do a lot considering all that have been released unconditionally. 15 since Christmas and five within the last three weeks. Please for the children's sake and mine'. A hand-written note on the letter states that not action is desired by the Taoiseach, 9 March 1942. |
