She opens her letter with lines from a poem by RN D Wilson entitled 'Kevin O'Higgins'. She also refers to the erection of a memorial to the late President. 'A Kennedy foundation or scholarship would seem more appropriate to this vital, constructive man who was so proud of his Irish kin, than a statue or edifice however beautiful'.

Newsclipping of a letter to the editor of the 'Irish Times' from Pamela Hinkson, Dublin, 18 December 1963, concerning an Irish memorial to the late President Kennedy. The opening section of the letter refers to the need for improved care for the elderly. She condemns the old folk homes which she feels to be unnatural. 'It is neither natural or happy for old people to be herded together'. She also praises the work undertaken by voluntary agencies. In conclusion she recommends that a national effort be made to improve the care of Ireland's old people.
