Table A shows that six women are employed within the Department at the following grades: Clerical Officer, Shorthand-Typist and Typist. Additional tables refer to the staff at the Governor General's Office. Three women are included on the staff. '1 Private Secretary to the Governor General; 1 Shorthand Typist and 1 Telephonist'.

A female Staff Officer serving in the Department of the President was appointed to Junior Executive rank by the order of the Executive Council on 9 March 1934.

The grades to be included in returns are listed in detail. 'Typing Grades: this group covers Superintendents of Typists, Shorthand-Typists, Typists, Clerk-Typists and Clerk Shorthand Typists'.

'No payments were made to these officers in respect of overtime, travelling expenses or subsistence allowances during their respective periods of loan'.
