The circular provides detailed guidelines for the return of information on each member of the Civil Service. 'Married or unmarried. Letter from the Department of Finance to S O'Muimhneachain, Department of the President, 13 September 1932, relating to staff returns for the Governor General's Office. 'Our letter of 27 August was written under a misapprehension as regards the position of Miss Tucker. As this lady is paid out of an allowance and is not a State employee in the ordinary sense we think, on further consideration, that she should be excluded from the Census return'.
