Description: |
Despatch from the Secretary of State for the Colonies to the Governor General, TM Healy, 14 August 1924, stating that the case of philanthropic and religious organisations, chiefly at the Curragh, who expended a large amount of capital `in the expectation that the troops would remain at the station indefinitely'. The transfer of property to the Free State and the evacuation of the troops has depreciated the value of such buildings held by philanthropic and religious organisations and as a result appeals have been lodged for compensation. Among the organisations who have lodged appeals are the Alexandra Nurses' Home, the Curragh; the Miss Williamson's Soldiers' Home, Kilworth and Moor Park; The Miss Sandes, Soldiers Home, the Curragh. |

Description: |
Memorandum from the Minister of Finance, 7 May 1924, on the topic of the salary scale to apply to the Clerical Class in the future and the point at which Army candidates may enter on that scale. For example, `I recommend, therefore that the figure of £60 be taken at 16 years of age and the scale rise to £180 or at the outside £200. These figures apply to boys. The British scale had the same minimum salary and increments but lower maximum for girls, the figure for girls corresponding to £250 for boys being £180. Our maximum for girls should not I think exceed £150.' |
