Description:

Letter to Professor O'Sullivan, Dublin from Rachel L Crowdy, League of Nations, Geneva, 27 November 1929. All the Dominions and Colonies except Ireland are sending delegates to the Empire Red Cross Conference to be held in May 1930. This, she writes, disturbs her. She suggests that possibly the Irish Free State White Cross could change its name and become the Irish Free State Red Cross Society `but labels always seem to be very important to the people who have founded societies and I do not suppose therefore that they would wish to change their name…' She suggests that if they were not willing to change their name maybe they could attend the Conference in their own right.
